From Praise to Performance: Christ’s Hospital Gospel Choir Lights Up the Royal Albert Hall
Have you ever wondered what it's like to sit in the same hall where stars have performed?
On the 27th of November 2024, Christ’s Hospitals very own Gospel Choir performed at the infamous Royal Albert Hall in London.
This impeccable Victorian elliptical-shaped hall is a memorial to Prince Albert. It is a well-known venue for a variety of events: concerts for high profile individuals, contests, exhibitions, and sporting events. Our choir was performing there as part of a organisation under ‘Young Voices’, which showcases young talents in the industry of music; whether that’s playing an instrument or singing!
The grand chandelier-lit foyer was definitely a sight, the blend of elegance but also modern design created an electric energy. I was with my choir, and we explored the external and internal of the structure, however, the constant thought of how many life-changing performances these walls had witnessed, and how many more to come, was evident.
The Royal Albert Hall is far more than a piece of architecture built into a masterpiece; it stands as a living tribute to the timeless power of the arts. We live in a world where we’re all consumed so heavily by digital screens, and don’t actually live in the present. This venue serves as a poignant reminder of the irreplaceable feeling found in live performances— through the art of music, showcasing more than just talent but a passion and a love for music.
