East Grinstead lifted the RFU Intermediate Cup today after twice coming from behind to beat Yorkshire side Ilkley 34-18 at Twickenham.
A John-Henry Johnson try sandwiched between two Philip Howell penalties put Ilkley 11-0 up after 21 minutes but Grinstead led 14-11 at the break after Adrian Hogben and Karl Gleave went over. Rick McKenna converted both.
Howell converted a Stephen Burns try early in the second half as the Dalesmen went 18-14 ahead but a McKenna penalty pulled the G-Force back to within a point three minutes later and then Walter Downey burst through under the posts to restore Grinstead's lead.
McKenna easily converted before he scored and converted a try of his own.
The Kiwi added a superb late drop goal to complete the scoring.
