Eastbourne Borough skipper Stuart Tuck has vowed to fight for his Priory Lane future.

Tuck has been allowed to join Burgess Hill on loan after being left out of the starting 11 for the opening three games of the season.

The former Albion defender missed the majority of pre-season with a torn calf muscle which meant he was only considered fit enough for a place on the bench for the opening two games.

Tuck was then left out completely by manager Garry Wilson for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Bishop's Stortford, prompting his move to Leylands Park on dual registration forms.

He will make his debut for Hillians in their Ryman division one south clash at Walton Casuals tonight but is determined the move will only be a temporary one.

The 31-year-old said: "From my point of view I am going to play three or four games for Burgess Hill and then I hope to go back to Borough and force my way into the team.

"It is a strange situation because I hardly played any games in pre-season and sitting on the bench wasn't doing either myself or Borough any favours. There are hardly any reserve games coming up so I needed to get out and get some match practice in.

"I'm certainly not looking for a move away from Eastbourne but I we will have to see how things develop becauseI am 31 and need to be playing.

"There is a good squad at Borough so competition for places is hard and while the team are doing well I can't have any complaints about not being picked."

Wilson insists Tuck's move does not signal the beginning of the end of a Borough career which has seen him make 227 appearances since joining from Worthing in October 2001.

Wilson said: "Stuart has been a stalwart for this club and has been a big part of our success over the years so we want to do things right by him.

"He is still in our plans at this moment in time and we will look at things again after he has got some games under his belt at Burgess Hill."

Matt Crabb is poised to return to the starting line-up as Borough try to bounce back to winning ways at home to Sutton United tonight. Allan Tait is expected to miss out after limping out of the defeat at Bishop's Stortford.

Defender Kevin Murphy has hung up his boots after ten years with Bognor.

The 36-year-old had played more than 300 games for the Rocks but decided to quit after talks with manager Jack Pearce.

Portsmouth trainee Jason Pearce, who is on a month's loan, continues in Murphy's place at home to Thurrock tonight while Jodey Rowland replaces Rob Ackroyd.
