Worthing's co-chairman has vehemently denied the club is in danger of going out of business.
Dave Agnew insists he has no plans to wind up the club and adds that their debts, including an £80,000 loan from one director, are not being called in.
Worthing’s financial position has been brought into focus following the decision last week of manager Simon Colbran to quit, claiming the budget he had been given for next season was unworkable.
Agnew, who is in charge of the club’s finances, is angry with subsequent claims about the club’s position, including the suggestion from a potential group of investors that the Rebels should be wound-up and start again in the County League.
He said: “There are not any problems at this football club. All we have done is stop the playing budget because we don’t believe in this current climate we should be throwing money at football."
