Lewes boss Steve Ibbitson believes Steve Brinkhurst deserves a chance with Albion.
The 18-year-old winger is nearing the end of a month’s loan from the Seagulls during which he has made a big impression at the Dripping Pan.
He scored his second goal in as many games in the 6-2 thrashing of Dover and had a hand in two others.
Brinkhurst, who comes from Lewes, tried to claim the third goal although it was later confirmed as an own goal.
His loan expires after Friday’s return trip to Dover and, with his one-year contract expiring in the summer, he is expected to return to Albion and try to push for a first-team call-up.
Ibbitson certainly believes he deserves an opportunity.
He said: “We are going to miss Steven a lot. He has been great for us.
“It is lovely to have two local lads either flank, with David Wheeler on the right, and the supporters really enjoy that.
“I don’t want to lose Steven but we are going to at the end of this month and I just hope he goes back to Brighton and Brighton give him a realistic chance because he is a very good player.”
