Worthing boss Simon Colbran is delighted to land England Schools left-back Matt Whitehead.

The 17-year-old has joined the Rebels from Lewes and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game at home to Chatham Town.

Colbran said: “He has played for England Schools under-18s and you have to be a decent player to do that.

“I am a great believer that no matter how old you are if you are good enough you will play.

“I know he is ambitious and I don’t want to hold him back. I will do everything I can to help him on his way. He is a Worthing lad and a great signing for us.”

Worthing have a goalkeeping worry ahead of tomorrow’s game as first choice Alan Mansfield has torn a side muscle which he is having treatment on and reserve Tony DiBernardo is on holiday.

Colbran has no other injury worries with Wayne Clarke available after a groin problem and Brendan Sebuliba, who has not played yet this season due to an ankle injury, also back in contention.

Horsham YMCA have lost Nigel Brake for up to six weeks with a hamstring problem while John Westcott is highly doubtful for tomorrow's game at Folkestone Invicta with a knee injury.

Tom Manton (back) is another doubt but Neil Watts could come into contention after recovering from ankle ligament damage suffered in pre-season.

Burgess Hill expect to welcome back striker Steve Harper (dead leg) and Max Barnard (illness) for their trip to fourth-placed Ramsgate.

Hillians need a change of luck after four defeats in their opening five league games. Boss Gary Croydon said: “Our performances are better than our points tally without a doubt.”

Boss Ady Colwell will be back at the helm for Eastbourne Town after a week away as they take on Merstham still looking for their first league win.
