East Grinstead III were crowned champions despite failing to win for a third successive week.

Having held what looked an unassailable lead at one stage, Grinstead just did enough to claim the title on the final day of the season by taking 13 points from a draw with relegated Hartfield.

It meant they won the league by just four points from runners-up Staplefield and Horsted Keynes, who each won with maximum points to finish level on 301.

Graham Billington (88 not out) and Andrew Metcalf (48) helped Grinstead post 210-6 and Hartfield could only muster 138-6 in reply with Mike Gladen hitting 40.

Charlie Cooper (42 and 5-33) was the star of Staplefield's 117-run success at relegated Roffey III, who were bowled out for 69 despite Greg Burgess carrying his bat for 51 not out.

Stewart Fuller hit 68 as Horsted Keynes set 183-9, then Ben Langman took 4-43 as hosts Streat were bowled out for 136.

Jez Farley took 5-33 as Crawley Down beat St Francis by eight wickets while Joe Cutress picked up 5-56 as Poynings won by 36 runs at Smallfield.

Ashdown Forest are champions of division two after Joey Birmingham (54 not out and 5-31) starred in a thumping 170-run win at home to Copthorne. Palmers and Colemans Hatch are also promoted.

Balcombe II won division three with Clayton and Dormansland also coming up.
