Keymer and Hassocks are bracing themselves for a last-day shoot-out with Sidley.
John Price's side remain in pole position to be crowned division three east champions with one game to go.
Long-time leaders Seaford dropped out of the race after being held to a draw by Chiddingly, which means only second-placed Sidley can catch Keymer and Hassocks.
By a twist of fate, the top two meet at Sidley on Saturday.
Keymer and Hassocks are 22 points ahead which means a win or draw will give them the title. For Sidley to snatch it, they must win and not allow their opponents to score more than seven points.
Skipper Price is delighted to be top but insists his team have plenty of work to do.
He said: “I wouldn't have expected to be in this position. It has come at the right time for us to be top of the table so late in the season.
“In many ways Seaford had the easiest run-in. They would have expected to beat Chiddingly and then have Ansty in their last game. We thought Seaford still had it in their own hands.
“It is in our hands but the way the fixtures have worked out it suits Sidley to be playing us the last game. It is nice for them to have control over us.
“It suits them to be playing us rather than us playing elsewhere against a mid-table side.”
