Barcombe celebrated their first league title and now they want to do it again – with one difference.
Joe Wheatley's young side clinched the championship with a draw against Heathfield Park, the only side who could have overhauled them.
It was a wonderful way to mark Barcombe's centenary year and now Wheatley is planning for another tilt at the title – without their star player, Jasvinder Singh.
He said: “It was fantastic, a great team effort. Everyone has played a part.
“We are going to do it next year without an overseas player. It will be nice to see if we can do it again.
“Jasvinder has not taken the most wickets or scored the most runs but he has been the most consistent player.
“He may have been the difference but we have enough players at the club to compete without him.
“We were happy to have him here but it will be nice to try to win it without him. Two years ago we didn't have an overseas player and we came fourth so we would like to improve on that.
“We have experience in Sanjay Patel, my vice captain, and Keith Savage, who has been trying to win this league for 30 years.”
Ole Callf scored a flawless 108 and Matt Tucker added 54 as Barcombe made 286 all out, with Simon Mallard's 4-35 being the pick of the bowling.
Heathfield lost in-form pair Ian Cox and Terry Penfold cheaply and, although Chris Hart hit 87, they closed on 214-7.
