James Iago produced a club record bowling performance to help Broadwater land a second successive league title.
RAF man Iago claimed 8-30 as Broadwater dismissed Crawley Eagles for just 48 to clinch the championship.
The all-rounder only told captain Joe Middleton he was available on Friday after three weeks away and his presence gave the leaders a real tonic after a recent wobble.
Middleton said: “He has been away for the last three weeks with the RAF. It wasn't until lunchtime on Friday that we knew he could definitely play.
“It was a big thing to have him back in the side and it was an outstanding performance by him.”
Visitors Crawley Eagles started with only five players due to late arrivals but were up to 11 by the third over and proceeded to bowl out Broadwater for 101 with Waqar taking 4-9. Iago then ripped in with his eight-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, to leave Eagles floundering.
Middleton said: “It wasn't looking great after we were bowled out for 101 and I thought we had blown it.
“We got everyone together before we went out and everyone was very positive. It must have been the worst we have batted this season and the best we have bowled and fielded. We took some stunning catches.
