Worthing and Burgess Hill both secured their first wins of the season in division one south.
Rebels beat Sittingbourne 1-0 with substitute Gavin Gordon getting the winner ten minutes from time after good work on the left by Jamie Brotherton.
It was no more than Rebels deserved and Karly Akehurst nearly got a second when his 30-yard drive crashed back off the bar.
First-half goals from Lloyd Skinner and Steve Harper earned Hillians a 2-1 success at Chipstead.
Harper struck from the spot after he had been pulled down and Skinner produced a sweet finish after a great break by Lloyd Cotton.
Chipstead pulled one back in the second half but Hillians held on. Boss Gary Croydon said: “Any win away from home is a good win. We played better in the two games we have lost but we deserved the three points.”
Eastbourne Town are still looking for their first win after losing 3-2 at home to Corinthian Casuals.
Casuals stormed into a 3-0 lead before headers from Jamie Salvidge and Chris Dicker dragged Town back into the game.
Boss Ady Colwell said: “We didn’t do the basics well enough in the first half and they played really well. We improved but gave ourselves too much to do.”
Horsham YMCA were denied their second win in three games following promotion from the County League as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Chatham Town.
Tom Lawley gave YM the lead with a 30-yard strike but Chatham equalised ten minutes before the break with an outrageous free-kick from inside their own half which caught Simon Lockwood off his line.
YM had chances to win it with Lawley hitting a post and then being sent tumbling in the area in the final minutes.
Boss Chris White said: “It was a definite penalty but I said to the lads afterwards we shouldn’t have needed it as we had enough chances to kill the game off. ”
