Worthing Thunder are bringing back last season’s top scorer for the new campaign.
They have agreed a deal with Janis Ivanovskis, pictured, whose 19.4 points per game saw him to sixth spot in the BBL scoring charts last term.
The 6ft 8in Latvian power forward was believed to be attracting interest from rivals Worcester and Scottish Rocks.
He averaged ten rebounds per game last season, his first in the BBL, and generally impressed despite playing largely out of position at centre.
Thunder are also bringing back locally based duo Dan Midgley and James Brame. The 6ft 3in Brame should pass 200 appearances for Thunder in the coming months.
He averages 4.7 points per game in his 176 outings for the club to date.
Midgley’s hard working approach earned him a regular starting spot last term.
The 6ft 5in forward played college basketball in the United States and averages 5.3 points per outing for Worthing.
Thunder open their league programme at home to Plymouth on Saturday, September 26, and still have signings to make before then, including that of an American point guard.
