Jamie Cook grabbed the only goal as Crawley made it back-to-back home wins with an impressive 1-0 defeat of Wrexham.
Cook struck his second goal of the campaign five minutes into the second half to see off the challenge of a strong Dragons side.
Manager Steve Evans kept faith with the side that beat Forest Green 3-1 in midweek, which meant former Wrexham striker Jefferson Louis had to be content with a place on the bench again.
Thomas Pinault (Achilles) and Ben Smith (groin) were passed fit to play but skipper Adam Quinn was still missing with a calf injury.
The visitors made a bright start and could have had a penalty inside the first 30 seconds when Gareth Taylor flicked the ball on for Matty Wolfenden who appeared to be held back by Chris Giles but still got in a shot which Simon Rayner held.
Crawley had a great chance to break the deadlock in the 17th minute when Ben Smith played a short corner to Simon Rusk whose floated cross was flicked on by Giles to Eddie Hutchinson who blasted over the bar from six yards.
Charles Ademeno was proving to be a handful and he had a good opportunity 12 minutes before the break after being played in behind the defence by Smith. The angle was tight but Ademeno should have hit the target.
A minute before half-time Ademeno helped a free-kick into the dangerzone and Karl Broadhurst swept the ball straight into goalkeeper Sam Russell's midriff from six yards.
Five minutes into the second half the Reds were ahead after breaking from a Wrexham corner. Pinault swept the ball down the right for Ademeno to chase, he brought it under control, checked and crossed for the advancing Cook to run on to and finish calmly.
Crawley almost doubled their advantage on 66 minutes when substitute Barry Cogan swung over a free-kick from the right which Giles headed against the far post and Broadhurst swept the rebound over the bar.
Although Wrexham enjoyed plenty of possession they never really looked like finding an equaliser.
