Lee Farrell hopes to get a special send-off on Sunday ahead of Great Britain’s attempt to retain their Deaflympics crown.
Former Horsham, Lewes and Worthing striker Farrell scored the winning goal in 2005 when Great Britain became world champions.
He travels out to Taiwan later this month in an attempt to help Great Britain successfully defend their crown.
This Sunday East Preston – Farrell’s first senior club – play the Great Britain Deaflympics squad at The Lashmar to help raise money for the squad.
A £3 entry charge will go towards the trip as the squad do not get Lottery funding in their quest. There will also be a raffle, a barbecue, an auction of football memorabilia and a race night after the game. The match kicks-off at 2pm.
Lee’s dad Graham said: “It would be great for Lee to see as many people there as possible. It would mean a lot to him and the squad.
“This will probably be his last Deaflympics. He feels after this one it will be time to step down and let the younger guys have a go.”
