It was mission accomplished for Hastings United as they ensured Ryman premier survival on the last day for the second season in succession.
United knew a point would keep them up but slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Wealdstone after Greg Ngoyi’s 39th-minute goal.
However, results elsewhere meant there was no heartbreak at the final whistle with Margate filling the fourth and final relegation place after a 4-1 loss at Staines.
Dolby said: “The objective when I took over this season was to ensure we survived so it’s a job well done as it was tougher this year with what we had available.
“Now we start thinking about next season.
“We played well and their people were saying afterwards that we were unlucky not to get something out of the game.”
Horsham ended their season with a 1-0 win over Harrow Borough which ensured a 13th place finish.
Darren Budd got the only goal as his 59th-minute free-kick from 35 yards out eluded everyone in a crowded area to find the back of the net.
There was very little to excite the crowd in a meaningless game for both sides at Woodside Road although the second half was an improvement. Mark Knee picked up the supporters’ player of the season award.
