Andy Gander was happy as Burgess Hill signed off with a 2-0 win at Chipstead which put seven points between them and the drop zone.
Steve Harper’s second-minute goal and a Toby Phillips effort just before half-time set up the win.
The Hillians climbed a place too and Gander, in charge while Gary Croydon is on holiday, said: “Putting as much daylight between us and the relegation places was the order of the day.”
Relegated Crowborough followed up a 1-0 win at home to Cray last weekend with a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Whyteleafe.
Manager Stuart Nowell said: “After last week’s game I didn’t want the season to finish but now I am happy it has.”
