There will be a new name on the Sussex Trophy this weekend.
Neither Hove nor fellow finalists Chichester have won the competition before.
They go head to head at Pulborough on Sunday (2.30pm) in what promises to be a cracking final.
The Trophy has been dominated in recent seasons by Haywards Heath and Worthing who were the only two winners between 1996 and 2007.
Bognor were winners last year after a decision not to include the big guns and two teams who have not previously won the competition will contest Sunday’s final.
Hove last reached the final in 1991 when they lost 23-0 to Lewes while Chichester have not appeared since 2003 when they were beaten by Worthing.
Both have enjoyed good seasons, with Chichester winning London Three South West while Hove finished third in London Three South East after a successful points appeal to the RFU elevated them one position in the final standings.
Hove playing manager Martin Windsor said: “It is our first year in London Three South East after promotion last year and to finish third is a fantastic achievement.
“It is nearly 20 years since we have been in the Sussex Cup final and it will be a special day out for the club. Chichester are a good side so it will be a difficult game and it could go either way.”
Hove are without kicker Sam Whiting, pictured, who has a hand in plaster due to a broken knuckle while Chichester have a couple of injury concerns.
On their way to the final, Hove had a walkover against Crowborough before beating holders Bognor 49-0 and then Worthing II 44-20 in the semi-final. Chichester beat Horsham 47-2
