Tony Dolby wants his Hastings United side to be quick out of the blocks tomorrow when they face fellow strugglers Hendon Town at the Pilot Field.

Dolby feels United, who sit one place above the bottom four relegation places on 46 points, will have a huge psychological advantage over the rest of the sides scrapping to stay up if they can produce a win.

United would leapfrog 16th-placed Hendon and maintain the three-point advantage they have over Margate, who fill the last relegation place, if they win.

Dolby said: “A win tomorrow would go a hell of a way to keeping us up. It would not be all over but psychologically it would put us in a good position over the teams around us.

“Margate would have to win both their games if we won and there’s a good chance they won’t do that as they have Sutton and Staines.

“It’s just as tight as last year and just as tough but we have to approach the game in the right way.

“We need to get off to a flier like we did against Sutton and then take any opportunities that arise like the penalty we missed in that game (a 2-0 defeat).”

Scott Ramsay, keeper Greg Nessling and Danny Spice are all carrying knocks but Dolby expects all three to be fit.
