Assistant manager Paul Raynor conceded that Crawley are out of the play-off race after a 2-0 home defeat against Stevenage today.
Reds looked worn out after their exertions at Torquay on Saturday, when they won 2-0, and struggled to make too many clear-cut chances after falling behind to a low drive from Michael Bostwick against his former club in the 41st minute.
Calum Willock lobbed a simple second three minutes from time as Stevenage cemented their own play-off challenge.
Reds' best moment came on the hour when Robbie Matthews' header released fellow sub Jon Shaw but his shot flew over the bar.
Raynor said: "I think the play-offs are beyond us now.
"The game at Torquay, and spending 12 hours on the coach going up there and back, took a lot out of us.
"We lacked our usual spark. If Jon had scored that goal it might have given us a lift but it looked like a game too many for us today."
Reds are back in action again on Wednesday when they visit Kettering.
