Garry Wilson pointed the finger at referee David Coote after Eastbourne Borough went down 2-1 at Cambridge United.
Borough took the lead through a Paul Armstrong penalty but United replied through Lee Phillips and then grabbed a winner from the spot.
Wilson said: "We never really got into the game in the first half but improved a lot after the break.
"We were pleases to get the penalty but we thought that their player should perhaps of got a second yellow card.
"Then we let things slip by giving two poor goals away. We didn't think the first one had gone out for a corner and Matt Smart says he was pushed first for the penalty so we were disappointed with that.
"Even after that we had a few chances to get an equaliser but on the balance of play I think the result was right."
