Bognor are hopeful of signing former Portsmouth defender Joe Ostler after he made an impressive debut in their crucial 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Weston-super-Mare.
Ostler was drafted in at right-back on the eve of the relegation tussle after being released by Pompey but is unavailable for Monday's trip to play-off hopefuls Eastleigh.
Rocks boss Michael Birmingham said: "Joe did ever so well and showed great composure in difficult conditions. He has a trial match on Monday and is keen to find a League club but if nothing turns up we'll hope to get something sorted out."
The Rocks dominated the opening half hour and took the lead when Scott Chamberlain's free-kick was turned into his own goal by Ian Herring.
Weston came back into the contest but Dan Beck's brave header to convert Alex Haddow's cross just after the break secured a vital win which keeps Bognor six points above the relegation zone.
