Worthing Thunder believe they have offered more evidence of why can thrive in the British League.

A crowd of about 650 saw Thunder beat Sheffield last Saturday after the club worked hard to promote what was a largely meaningless EBL division one fixture in terms of the title race.

That is about 200 more than Thunder would need to break even in the BBL if they are accepted for next season.

The club hope many fans return on Easter Saturday when Reading Rockets visit in what is effectively a decider for second place (8pm).

New Thunder director Frank Gainsbury said: "Last week's match showed the interest is there if we go into the BBL."

Director of coaching Gary Smith has called on his side to go into the play-offs on a winning run.

Smith said: "It's about pride and desire and for the players to take things personally. A loss will consign us to third place and this team does not deserve that."
