Manager Bob Laundon fears Pease Pottage will fold following relegation from County League division two.

The drop finally confirmed after losing 7-1 against Rustington.

Laundon, alongside former Albion assistant Bob Booker, led Pottage to promotion and senior football for the first time in their history last season.

He quit on the eve of this season but returned in November after seeing Pottage lose their opening 12 games..

He is set to leave again at the end of the campaign and fears for the club's future after he is gone.

Laundon said: "When I took over it was always with the understanding that I would go at the end of the season.

"It was a mistake to come back to because the reasons I quit in the first place are still there.

"There are not enough people helping out at the club and there is no ambition or money. The people behind the scenes are working hard but there are not enough of them.

"Unless the chairman (Ryan Swallows) acts quickly and appoints a manager who can bring in players and gets some kind of financial help, I can see it falling apart.

"I really do think the club could cease to exist unless someone gets hold of it and makes big changes."

Pottage went ahead against promotion-chasing Rustington through Sean Coleby, before Steve Kirkham equalised on the stroke of half-time. The floodgates opened early in the second half with Kirkham, Andy Boxall (2), James Butt, Ryan Morten and Sean Duffy netting to send Rustington second.

Broadbridge Heath maintained their slim hopes of joining Pottage in the drop with a 2-2 draw at Steyning. They looked on course to take three vital points when Warren Sweatman and Peter Sweet cancelled out an early strike by Tom Pickford for Steyning, before Lee Waterhouse struck a last minute leveller.

Wealden ended their relegation fears with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Storrington. Ricky Mitchell scored his first for the club to end a run of seven games without a win.

Southwick moved to within two points of securing their safety with a 2-0 win over Sidlesham. Dan Molineux made it six goals in three games and Wayne Joseph was also on target.

Leaders East Grinstead need just two more points to clinch promotion after beating Peacehaven 2-1. Mannie Neville and Ben Burns scored in the last ten minutes after Richard Watton put Tye ahead.

A Peter Baker penalty handed Westfield a 1-0 win over Littlehampton to keep their outside promotion hopes alive.
