Crowborough are within touching distance of the County League title after a 1-0 win away to third-placed East Preston.

Chris Dicker scored the only goal to move Crows 13 points clear of Whitehawk who have only five games remaining.

If Hawks lose at home to Redhill on Saturday, then the title is Crowborough's.

The leaders, who have no game on Saturday, were missing four players at the Lashmar but Dicker's free-kick on 59 minutes proved enough.

Joint manager Simon Colbran said: "We knew we weren't going to score a lot of goals because they are strong at the back and have only lost once at home this season.

"I would have been happy to come away with a draw so to win is a massive bonus.

"We know we could win it this weekend but we are only concentrating on our own results."

Whitehawk had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Selsey, Ben Wheatland's 86th-minute effort cancelling out Jake Lafferty's first-half effort.

Arundel's battle for second spot suffered a setback when they were held 2-2 by a battling Hailsham at a rain-sodden Mill Road.

Mike Huckett and Matt Huckett netted for the Mullets but Stringers replied through Mark Reeve and Ashley Jarvis on a pitch which cut up badly.

Sidley moved off the bottom of the table after fighting back from 2-0 down against Worthing United to snatch a 3-2 victory at Gullivers.

Gavin Geddes and Gavin Jones put United 2-0 up within ten minutes and Sidley also lost striker Shae Spreafico to injury but a Billy Trickett penalty and Jimmy Watson header pulled them level before Trickett struck the winner.

Sidley boss Andy Laskey said: "It's great to get off the bottom. We have been down there so long and people have written us off but we will just try to keep winning our games and see where that takes us."

New-look Chichester moved out of the bottom three with a 3-1 win at Rye, who replaced Sidley at the foot of the table.

Rob Boddy, Jamie Groves, Dan Jordan and Darren Annis were Shoreham's scorers as Wayne Robinson and Tony Reid replied.
