Eastbourne Eagles' latest new era has been put on hold for 48 hours.
Their Craven Shield tussle with Swindon was washed out by early evening rain.
The fixture will now be staged on Monday (7.30pm).
Fans leaving the stadium were handed re-admission tickets which can be used for any of the next three home fixtures.
Referee Frank Ebdon left the call-off decision as long as possible but eventually bowed to the inevitable at 7.40pm in conjunction with the two teams.
The match was to have been the first for new promoter Martin Hagon and his predominantly British team.
