Brent Werner is rejoining Eastbourne Eagles as their back-up rider.
The experienced American is Eagles' No. 8 for the new season, a role he will combine with riding for Premier League outfit Somerset.
Werner started the 2006 season at reserve for Eagles but lost his place after struggling to recover from a broken collarbone. He started last term with Birmingham and recently revised plans to retire from the sport.
Eagles' new No. 1 Scott Nicholls made an encouraging start to the season at Poole's Diamond Jubilee meeting.
Nicholls finished third in the final but it was former Eagles skipper Nicki Pedersen who clinched the record £60,000 first prize.
Eagles start their season at home to Swindon Robins in the Craven Shield on Saturday.
