HORSHAM chairman Frank King has dismissed suggestions that Hornets face expulsion from the Ryman League because of their failure to secure a temporary groundshare for next season.

Horsham have to leave Queen Street, their base since 1904, after the last premier division home fixture against Billericay on April 19.

But the proposed share with Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium next season has collapsed and new owners of the Queen Street site, Persimmon Homes, will not let them stay for another year.

Hornets could even be banned from playing in the play-offs but King is confident the problem will be resolved in the next two weeks.

He said: "All this about us being kick out of the Ryman is a load of nonsense. I've spoken to Alan Turvey (Ryman chairman) about the groundshare matter and he did not say anything about that happening. You can take the suggestion with a pinch of salt.

"It's been a bit of a nightmare with the Crawley move falling through but people are painting the picture worse than it is. We are in very delicate negotiations and are confident we will sort out a groundshare for next season in the next two weeks."

King added: "I do not want to talk about where we hope to go until we know for sure."

Horsham want to share until they are able to move into a permanent home at Holbrook.
