Scott Nicholls chases the biggest cash prize in speedway insisting: "I'll be ready for the new season."

The Eastbourne Eagles No. 1 goes tomorrow (Sunday) in the Diamond Jubilee meeting at Poole, where top prize is £60,000.

With current exchange rates, that tops the 100,000 US dollar jackpot scooped by Andreas Jonsson when he won the 100th Grand Prix in Gelsenkirchen last October.

Nicholls had his first run out of the year at King's Lynn on Wednesday and takes part in Eastbourne's press and practice today (11am).

The Poole field includes world champion Nicki Pedersen, his former Eagles colleague Davey Watt and world-class riders such as Hans Andersen, Jason Crump, Chris Harris, Leigh Adams, Greg Hancock and Bjarne Pedersen.

Nicholls said: "It's like a GP line-up. Everybody in the field is capable of doing very well.

"The huge amount of prize money means it will be a fierce one as well.

"I haven't had a lot of practise. A few things got held up.

"But I felt okay when I got out at King's Lynn. I'll be a bit rusty for a few laps but I'll get back into it.

"Some riders have done more but everyone will be race rusty."

Eagles are brightening up their press and practice session, to which fans have free admission.

Once the media have taken team and individual pictures, there will be a chance for supporters to collect autographs and have photos taken with riders.

There will be a raffle with top prizes of tickets for the British GP and an Eagles meeting.

Track time is likely to start at about 1pm and Nicholls will be keen to make the most of his first Arlington run out of the year.

He said: "I'll have time to get plenty of laps in and try a couple of bikes.

"The main thing is getting laps under your belt.

"Everything is prepared well and the bikes are a good standard."
