Eastbourne Eagles are on the brink of an injury crisis as they prepare for their busiest weekend of the season so far.
David Norris is almost certain to miss their sequence of three Elite League meetings in four nights after being pulled out of a guest booking for Ipswich at Wolverhampton on Monday.
Norris, still suffering after a crash at Swindon last week, was advised not to ride by the track doctor at Wolverhampton and is rated 99 per cent certain to miss the weekend.
Crisis time will arrive if Davey Watt and Stefan Andersson fail to come through fitness tests tonight at Poole and in Sweden respectively.
Eagles will operate rider-replacement for Norris, which means all riders, including Nicki Pedersen, will be eligible for an extra heat.
They have provisionally booked Edward Kennett as guest for Saturday's home clash with a weak-looking Belle Vue.
Problems could arise, though, at Oxford on Friday and in Monday's re-arranged televised trip to Reading.
Eagles boss Trevor Geer was less than impressed with Norris's decision to attempt to ride for Ipswich.
He admitted: "We have got a right week of it now. The track doctor took one look at David at Wolverhampton and told him he should not be riding.
"His pupils weren't right. It was obvious he had got concussion."
Watt missed the entire month of April with a broken wrist but will have a trial spin at Poole after their clash with Peterborough.
The Aussie is making a good recovery and has set his sights on the trip to his old club Oxford.
Geer expects Watt to have about eight laps at Wimborne Road. But he said: "You more or less know if you are okay after one lap. He is trying everything to be ready."
Andersson's potential return to fitness is more of a surprise given his ongoing problems with the after-effects of an early season crash in Poland.
Dean Barker is having ultra-sound treatment on strained muscles below his arms and is likely to be fit.
Although Eagles will be happy to give Pedersen an extra heat in each meeting, it will mean a tough four-day workload for the Dane.
He also rides for Rzesow in Poland on Sunday.
