Sussex rider Edward Kennett was a popular winner of speedway's British Under-21 Championship at Arlington Stadium.
But there was biter disappointment for Eastbourne Eagles star Lewis Bridger as he unluckily missed out on the final.
Kennett, the Hailsham-based rider currently on loan from Eagles to Poole, dropped just one point in five heats and took the final in convincing style from second-placed William Lawson and 16-year-old Tai Woffinden, who was an impressive third.
Bridger scored 12 points in five heats and was leading the semi-final by some distance when a pile-up behind him led to a re-run, from which he was excluded after tangling with Lawson.
