Great Britain boss Neil Middleditch today told Eastbourne Eagles' hottest young property: "I've got my eyes on you."
Middleditch is tracking Eagles teenager Lewis Briudger as a possible member of his squad for the World Cup in July.
But Bridger could face competition from Eastbourne asset Edward Kennett, who followed seven points in his top-flight Polish debut with a paid maximum 11+4 (5) for Poole against Oxford in midweek.
Bridger was paid for a career-high 17 points as Eagles beat Poole Pirates on Good Friday.
He will look for something similar at home to Wolverhampton tomorrow (7.30pm).
Middleditch, who is also team boss of Poole said: "Lewis had a brilliant evening against us and there is a lot of young English talent around.
"Edward in my (Poole) team, James Wright, there are a few riders who could figure. I'll be watching very closely. With the injury to Mark Loram I've got to start looking elsewhere.
"Lewis is a courageous young rider. Riding in Poland and Sweden has given him experience on the big tracks.
"The World Cup final is in Poland so I will be watching his scores over there as well."
Eagles have been given a boost ahead of tomorrow night's meeting, thanks to a rider who is not currently in action.
Davey Watt has crept above Dean Barker in the latest green-sheet averages, meaning David Norris can take an extra heat as Eagles operate rider-replacement for the crocked Aussie.
Watt suffered a broken wrist and a blow to the neck in a dramatic smash against Reading a fortnight ago but is making progress.
Eagles team manager Treovr Geer said: "Davey says his neck and wrist are both feeling better and he is getting specialist attention on a daily basis."
