WORTHING Raiders booked their place in National One with a dramatic 28-26 play-off victory over a heartbroken Stourbridge today.
Rob Smith got the crucial try to level the scores four minutes into stoppage time and Joe Govett converted from in front of the posts to spark the celebrations.
Tries by Raiders’ Jack Maslen, Govett, Scott Barlow and Smith at the death sealed the victory as Govett added four conversions.
Stourbridge’s Nathan Bressington and Will Hurrell crossed for their tries while Jamie Hearn converted both and kicked four penalties.
Winning try scorer Smith admitted he was close to tears at the end.
He said: "That was tough, really tough. All credit to Stourbridge.
"The boys have been fantastic all season."
