Eastbourne Borough are offering fans the chance to shape the destiny of the club – but it will cost them £5,000.
Borough have launched a groundbreaking scheme where supporters can buy a place on the club’s board for the rest of the season.
Four directorships are up for grabs at the Blue Square premier club and those who take up the deal will have full voting rights at board meetings.
Borough chairman Len Smith said: “We’ve had a few people mention something like this so we’ve decided to give it a go and see if there is interest.
“Obviously it is a way of raising funds for the club but we are also hoping to get new people involved from outside the club who can bring with them some fresh ideas.
“We’ve already had one person say they would like to take up the offer and I’m confident others will follow because it is a unique opportunity to become part of shaping the club’s future.”
The package includes £500 worth of shares in the Community Interest Company, which oversees the running of the football club as well as Langney Sports and facilities like the indoor bowls club.
Other perks are a seat in the directors box for all home games, travel on the team coach for up to ten away games and two overnight stays at the team hotel.
Smith added: “I think it is an attractive package. There is a quite a bit of kudos in being a director of a football club and you don’t get offers like this at the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United!”
