Manager Garry Wilson admitted revenge tasted sweet after Eastbourne Borough beat bogey side Barrow 2-0 at Priory Lane.
The Bluebirds had beaten Borough twice in the league last season and also knocked them out of the FA Cup but were sunk by goals from Jamie Taylor and Andy Atkin in the space of three minutes just before half-time.
Wilson said: "We said before the game that even though we had got poor results against them last year we had played reasonably well so it was nice to turn that around.
"They have gone a bit more full-time this year and signed some players over the summer so it was a good result for us.
"We had a lot of chances which was good to see. Their goalkeeper pulled off a great save from Simon Weatherstone, we had some good opportunities in the second half and Andy Atkin hit the bar when he should have scored near the end.
"It was an important result for us because we didn't want to get left behind and we want to be picking up points at home."
