Eastbourne Borough assistant manager Nick Greenwood has tipped Jack Jeffery to finish the season with a bang.

Jeffery came off the bench to score twice in the last eight minutes during the 3-0 win over Weymouth on Saturday.

They were the striker’s first goals since joining on loan from West Ham two months ago and have put him in contention for a starting place for tonight’s trip to Altrincham.

Greenwood said: “Jack hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential with us but maybe those two goals could be the start of something.

“It has taken him a while to adapt to the style of football in the Blue Square premier but if we can get the ball in to him in the right areas we have seen he is a good finisher.”

Jeffery may have to settle for a place on the bench tonight if Borough opt for the 4-5-1 formation they tend to prefer away from home. Allan Tait is expected to recover from the groin injury which forced him off at half-time against Weymouth and is favourite to lead the line.
