Dan Smith is expected to stay at Eastbourne Borough for at least another month.
The Plymouth striker's current deal is due to expire after Saturday's home game against Mansfield but Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has agreed to extend it.
Borough are hopeful of keeping the 19-year-old until the end of the season with the Pilgrims having the option of an early recall but they may have to settle on extending the loan for just another month.
Sturrock recalled Ashley Barnes from his loan spell early on Tuesday and Borough feared they could also lose Smith who has scored twice in the last three games.
