Sami El-Abd has been named player-manager of Bognor.
The defender will take charge as Rocks kick off life in the Vanarama National League south next term.
He replaces Jamie Howell, who moved on to Eastbourne Borough after guiding Bognor to promotion.
Darin Kilpartrick and Gary Charman, both of whom have had managerial experience, will assist.
Rocks chief Jack Pearce said: “We have often appointed from within the club and we opted for continuity.
“Sami showed an interest in being manager and he has demonstrated good qualities as a captain and a leader in the dressing room.
“It will be a challenge but we will support him.”
El-Abd, brother of ex-Albion defender Adam and rugby player Joe, was with the Seagulls as a schoolboy and later played for Crawley, Lewes, Whitehawk and Peacehaven as well as clubs outside the county.
