Whitehawk are hoping to further boost a stretched squad after snapping up striker Sahr Kabba.

The 25-year-old former Havant and Waterlooville forward has joined Hawks on a six-week loan from Conference premier side Lincoln City.

Manager Steven King also hopes to add two central defenders and a central midfielder to his options prior to tomorrow’s Vanarama Conference south trip to Bishop’s Stortford.

King could only name two fit outfield substitutes in the win away to Gosport Borough last Saturday with Paul Lorraine, John-Paul Kissock, Sam Gargan and Osei Sankofa all injured.

Kissock returned in the midweek defeat at home to bottom side Wealdstone and Sankofa hopes to be back this weekend but Gargan is still struggling and Lorraine undergoes surgery on his injured knee next week.

With Tom Cadmore suspended for the next five games, King needs to strengthen at the back.

Left-back Lee Hills partnered Cadmore in central defence against Wealdstone but Hawks hope to have a new combination in place tomorrow.

The arrival of Kabba is partly to bolster the squad and partly to help with a lack of goals from the strikers.

Serge Makofo has yet to score despite starting six games this season, marquee summer signing Matthew Barnes-Homer has not found the net either and is still struggling for match fitness while Jake Robinson has scored just once.

Kabba, a former Millwall and Bristol Rovers youth team player, joined Havant from Weston-super-Mare for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2012 and netted 19 goals in two seasons with the Conference south outfit.

He joined Lincoln this summer, again for an undisclosed fee on an initial one-year contract.

King said: “He hasn’t really broken through at Lincoln so we have taken him on a six-week loan. He is a small, very sharp, quick forward who knows this level inside out.

“I felt we needed more goals in the team. At the moment we are relying too much on Danny Mills and Sam Deering, who is a midfielder.

“I’m also trying to bring in a couple of centre-halves and a central midfield player.

“We are a small squad. We kept it tight and compact in the summer so that if we got any injuries we would have flexibility to get players in.

“We won’t have Tom Cadmore for the next five weeks and we won’t know how long Paul Lorraine will be out until he has had his operation next Thursday so we need to do something.”

Former Colchester striker Sunday Akanni Wasiu is training with Whitehawk and has signed Conference forms but is not expected to be part of the plans going forward.

Wasiu played one game for Hawks the season before last when Darren Freeman was manager.

Young goalkeeper Charlie Crowley has joined Whitehawk on a non-contract basis as back-up for John Sullivan following the decision of Lance Cronin to leave the club.

Crowley, 20, was previously with Hayes and Yeading and Waltham Forest.

Summer signing Cronin, who played the first two games of the campaign, has decided to concentrate on his business commitments.

Ex-Everton winger Femi Orenuga, who made just one appearance as a substitute this season for Hawks, has signed a contract with Norwegian second division side Raufoss.
