Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington is hoping their good start will not be derailed by last week’s postponement.

The early season Conference south leaders were unbeaten in four matches prior to last Saturday’s match with Farnborough which was called off due to the visitors’ off-the-field issues.

Farnborough have since been cleared to continue in Conference south while Borough return to action away to Staines Town tomorrow.

Borough beat Staines 2-0 home and away last season but Widdrington said: “Last season won’t count for anything on Saturday. Staines have won both their games at home so far and Marcus (Gayle) is starting to put his stamp on things.

“I hope we haven’t been disrupted by not playing last week.

“I gave the lads the weekend off as we had played four games in ten days before that. They have had their break and have trained superbly this week.”

Widdrington has no injury problems going into the game other than summer signing Tony Garrod who has yet to play due to a hamstring injury.

Former Albion youngster Elliott Levy is in the squad after signing a deal for the remainder of the season this week, having started the campaign as a non-contract player. Widdrington said: “I watch an inordinate amount of games and I see things in Elliott that tell me he has the ability to player higher than Conference south.

“He isn’t ready yet but we will nurture his progress.”

Former Portsmouth reserve Lewis Tallack has also been put on contract after starting the season well.
