Sussex bounced back from their Twenty20 mauling at the hands of Hampshire's batsmen on Sunday to bowl them out on the first day of their County Championship clash at Hove.

Hampshire had made 193-2 off 20 overs on the same wicket just 24 hours before but crashed to 206 all out from 79.5 overs.

All the wickets fell to bowlers who had not played the previous day with Monty Panesar taking 4-71 and Rana Naved 3-38.

Sussex lost Chris Nash and Ed Joyce cheaply to slip to 5-2 in reply before Murray Goodwin and Luke Wells steered them to 27-2 at the close.

Hampshire had made a solid start after winning the toss with Liam Dawson and Jimmy Adams putting on 63 for the first wicket.

James Anyon made the initial breakthrough when he trapped Dawson lbw and Michael Carberry - in his first game for eight months after suffering a blood clot on the lung - followed soon after when he was caught by Nash at short leg off Panesar.

Jimmy Adams and Neil McKenzie survived to guide Hampshire to 96-2 at lunch but there was a clatter of wickets in the afternoon session.

Jimmy Adams, Neil McKenzie, James Vince and Micheal Bates all made starts but were unable to push on as Hampshire reached tea at 164-6.

Panesar and Rana then cleaned up the tail fairly swiftly in the evening session with only a stubborn 25 from Dominic Cork ensuring the visitors made it past the 200 mark.
