Murray Goodwin will miss tonight's crucial televised T20 clash with Kent at Canterbury after being hit with a one-match ban by the ECB.

Goodwin travelled to Lord's today for a disciplinary hearing after being reported for dissent towards an umpire's decision twice in the space of five weeks.

The 38-year-old was warned for his behaviour during the T20 game against Essex at Hove last month and then reprimanded for hitting the ball to the boundary in frustration after being given out lbw in the Championship clash with Warwickshire at Arundel last week.

Goodwin's ban comes into immediate affect meaning he misses the crucial clash with Kent in front of the Sky cameras as both teams bid to boost their chances of a place in the quarter-finals.

The veteran batsman was also given a suspended fine by Sussex yesterday and warned about his future conduct.

Goodwin's absence against Kent is a big blow with Sussex also missing Rana Naved, Luke Wright, Wayne Parnell, Luke Wells and Kirk Wernars through injury.
