All-rounder Robin Martin-Jenkins produced his best bowling performance for over two years as Sussex dismissed Lancashire for 236 on the second day of the LV Championship match at Old Trafford.
Martin-Jenkins finished off Lancashire's first innings with four wickets in 13 balls with the second new ball for figures of 5-43, his best since May 2007.
His second victim Sajid Mahmood was also the 350th first-class wicket of his career.
Only 36.1 overs were possible on the second day because of overnight rain, which delayed the start until 1.30pm, and heavy showers.
Sussex faced just 5.4 overs in reply and their new opening pair of skipper Mike Yardy and Championship debutant Joe Gatting reached 11-0 in reply.
