Chris Nash scored a career-best 157 as Sussex enjoyed a productive first day of the Championship match against Somerset at Taunton.
Nash batted until 17 minutes before the close when he was caught at backward point having faced 284 balls and hit 23 fours.
He shared in stands of 98 with Ed Joyce and 171 with Murray Goodwin who will resume on Thursday on 96 not out.
Mike Yardy fell for 15 and Joyce made 37 but this was a productive day for Sussex, not least Nash who has now scored three hundreds this season - two of them against Somerset - and is only 35 runs short of 1,000 for the season.
