Sussex coach Mark Robinson praised Worcestershire seamer Matt Mason after he produced the best bowling performance of the season at Hove.
But Robinson still believes his own attack can help Sussex to a crucial Championship victory after they reduced Worcestershire to 71-4 in their second innings, a lead of just 47.
Mason took 7-60 and Robinson, a former bowler himself, said: “Mason bowled a quality spell. He exploited the conditions in the morning when it was quite humid.
“His control of line and length was superb and you have to give him a lot of credit.”
Sussex gained a first innings lead of 24 thanks mainly to Andrew Hodd’s 73 and then claimed Worcestershire’s top four batsmen.
Robinson added: “As it got cooler there was less swing and although our score was under-par we managed to grind out some more runs and then nip out four of their best players and give ourselves a chance.”
