Two late wickets from Yasir Arafat put Sussex in charge on the second day of the crucial Championship match against Worcestershire at Hove.
Arafat had Ben Smith and Vikram Solanki leg before in his second spell while Robin Martin-Jenkins and Luke Wright each picked up a wicket as the Pears reached 71-4 in their second innings at the end of the second day, a lead of 47.
Sussex had earlier been dismissed for 270, a lead of 24, despite a superb performance by Worcestershire's veteran seamer Matt Mason who took 7-60.
Sussex were 101-6 at one stage but Andrew Hodd's 73 - the only half-century in the match so far - and useful contributions from Luke Wright (38) and Yasir Arafat (32) gave Sussex a slender but important first innings lead.
