Rgheb Aga boosted his chances of playing in next week’s Championship opener against Lancashire with two wickets in three balls against Cambridge UCCE yesterday.
The 24-year-old Kenyan-born seamer, who is in his second season on the staff, took 2-8 from seven overs on a truncated second day at Fenner’s.
In his fifth over Aga had Mark Bott caught behind before Brighton-born Chris Grammer fell for a third-ball duck, superbly caught by Ollie Rayner at slip.
Aga shared the new ball with James Kirtley who struck in his second over when Ananya Sen wafted outside off stump and got an under-edge to wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd.
Aga’s double strike reduced the students to 15-3 but they recovered to 36-3 before rain prevented any further play.
The final day takes place tomorrow and Sussex will train on Saturday morning ahead of their Friends Provident Trophy opener against Gloucestershire in Bristol.
