Sussex coach Mark Robinson has urged the cricket authorities to sort out the continuing confusion surrounding Mushtaq Ahmed's availability for the coming season.

The champions are still waiting for a final decision on whether Mushtaq will be banned from playing county cricket next season due to his involvement in the rebel Indian Cricket League.

The Pakistan Cricket Board threatened to withdraw the No Objection Certificate' Muhstaq requires to play in England two weeks ago but have yet to take any decisive action.

The situation is further complicated by the fact the leg-spinner has not yet played in the Twenty20 competition after missing the Lahore Badshahs' victory over the Hyderabad Heroes yesterday.

Robinson said: "We are still waiting for guidance from the ECB and PCB and until that happens all we can do is wait. It is a very difficult situation as we cannot make any concrete plans for the new season until we receive clarification.

"I don't think Mushtaq is injured so I'm not sure why he hasn't played so far but the fact he hasn't doesn't hinder our situation. We would just like the matter sorted out."
