Sussex made two early breakthroughs on the third morning of their County Championship game against Durham at Hove.
Skipper Ed Joyce opted to declare before play resumed with Sussex on 505-9 and the decision was rewarded when James Anyon removed Mark Stoneman with the seventh ball of the day.
Keaton Jennings was then run out for 13 by Luke Wright following a dreadful mix-up with Scott Borthwick to leave Durham in a spot of bother on 34-2.
Borthwick made amends for his part in Jennings’ dismissal by reaching his 50 off 80 balls, including a pulled six off Anyon which ended up in the top tier of the pavilion.
The England all-rounder was unbeaten on 53 when rain forced the players off for an early lunch while Kumar Sangakkara is seven not out.
