Gus Poyet is on the hunt for a left winger and a striker after completing the capture of long-time target Gordon Greer.
The commanding Scottish defender has signed a three-year deal for a fee believed to be about £250,000.
Greer, brought in from Swindon, led the Seagulls out for the first half of a 3-1 friendly defeat to Whitehawk at Worthing last night.
Poyet admits his recruitment is not complete and is still keen on a long-term loan for Newcastle wideman Kazenga LuaLua.
He said: “We are still in the chase for LuaLua because we know how important he was for us and how many people in Brighton like him.
“Of course we want a striker and after that it will depend if somebody goes and we need to re-adjust.”
Poyet praised Greer’s first action in the blue and white stripes and said: “You can see how calm he is, how simple he does things and that is what we needed.”
Asked if Greer would lead the side out in league action, Poyet said: “He has big possibilities but the squad is not complete yet.”
Dutchman Kevin Bobson will not be filling the vacant left-sided berth after an unsuccessful trial and James Tunnicliffe and Jimmy McNulty could go out for the season.
Both defenders were left out last night and Poyet said: “We are close for them maybe to go on a season loan somewhere.”
