Crawley boss Sean O’Driscoll is keen to see if he can strike a deal for former Bournemouth defender Shaun Cooper.
The versatile 28-year-old impressed in two different positions for the Reds in a 1-0 defeat at Woking last night.
Cooper, who began his career at Portsmouth, played under O’Driscoll at Bournemouth where he made 211 league appearances in a seven-year stint.
The Reds boss said: “I have known Shaun a long time, his versatility is his biggest asset and probably his biggest headache because you can trust him in various positions.
“He is as good a central midfield player in League One as there is and also can play centre-half.
“If you haven’t got a big squad, to be able to change positions, change the structure gives you an edge.
“He is one that gives us that.
“He came in and trained and gave a good account of himself. He is someone we are trying to consider and will talk to his representative and see where we can move it.”
Crawley looked at two other trialists last night, Republic of Ireland under-19 goalkeeper Niall Burdon and 17-year-old forward Morgan Ferrier who was previously with Arsenal and Watford.
Burdon, who was back-up keeper with French side Stade Rennais last season, made three good saves in the second half last night.
